After the snow comes the Cold. Currently around 5F with a wind chill down to -16F. On the river a few hardy
ducks (Lesser Scaup)remain while two AlgoCorp freighters (AlgoWood and AlgoWay), covered in thick ice blankets wait for the best time to travel
up river.

November 26th, Happy Holidays!!
|
Holiday season is nearing and with all the financial gloom that we've had this year I'm looking forward
to a bit of a break and some good old self indulgent window shopping. The black Friday sales are already
appearing in the online stores, even Apple are dropping prices. Amazon have some bargains lined up for
Friday (here) ... if only I had the cash to hand!
Happy Holidays everyone, I'm planning on hitting the Thanksgiving Parade on Thursday so if
you're around say hello.

November 16th, Windsor by Night
|
Winter's really settling in. The hardy ducks have returned to the Detroit River (CanvasBacks, Horned Greebs and Goldeneyes so far)
and the snow is gradually becoming more frequent. This means that the riverwalk is now almost abandoned. This is surely
a shame since at this time of the year in the early evening it can be a beautiful place for a ride - just make sure to bring
lights.

November 15th, Damn
|
You can't live in this city for long without appreciating the enormous service performed by the DFD.
Just this week a 1am fire started on a stove in another unit here brought out five fire tenders, possibly a couple
of them from the station on Grand Boulevard. They surely saved the building and all our homes.
But many of the calls here seem to be to malicious fires set in abandoned properties. For those who
have to deal with the results every fire is
dangerous. Early on saturday morning Walter Harris was in the wrong place when the roof
of an abandoned house collapsed (Freep, DetNews).
A tragic loss.
