In the Spring of 2004 I reached Detroit with only two suitcases and the vaguest of clues.
For a few months before I'd browsed the official city websites ("You'd be mad to want
to live anywhere else"), the press ("Run for the hills and don't look back"),
and the blogs ("I live in a city away in the suburbs"). And so had
no real idea of where in downtown it was safe or desirable to live.
This photo-log was aimed at filling in the gap by providing a bunch of shots of the best
and not-so best of downtown Detroit. It's not quite there yet and has been a bit pulled
off track by shots of around the Detroit Riverwalk ... but we'll get there.
In the meantime feel free to email me with any questions if you're in a similar
scenario.
